Hip-hop Artists of the year 2023 🎉💥

2023 has been an interesting year for hip-hop.
This genre, known for its ever-changing nature, continues to metamorphose with fresh sounds and emerging sub-genres.

While it’s easy to listen to the hip-hop classics you already love, it’s a missed opportunity to ignore the new dynamic of hip-hop.

Larry June

One standout moment in 2023 was the release of two albums by Larry June, both of which carried a distinct and nostalgic G-funk sound reminiscent of hip-hop’s classic era. These releases served as a reminder of the genre’s roots, celebrating its rich history.

Lil Yachty

Lil Yachty took a bold step in his musical journey. Yachty embraced a novel sound on his latest album, showcasing the artist’s versatility and willingness to push boundaries.

Ice Spice

Ice Spice delivered a fresh new sound to the scene. It will take some time for lovers of old-school hip-hop to appreciate this style, but it’s hard to ignore.

This artist is not afraid to experiment with different sounds and genres, blending elements of hip-hop, R&B, and even a touch of reggae to create a truly one-of-a-kind musical experience.

Ice Spice's music is not for everyone.

Traditionalists may turn up their noses at this new style, longing for the days of old-school hip-hop. But for those who are open to something different, Ice Spice's music is a breath of fresh air. It's like trying a new spice in your favorite dish – it may take some getting used to, but once you do, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Westside Gunn

Westside Gunn’s album “And Then You Pray for Me” is a throwback to boom-bap and East Coast hip-hop styles. His lyrics often delve into gritty, street-wise narratives, showcasing vivid storytelling skills.

The Alchemist

Producers don’t always get the spotlight they deserve. But in 2023 we can’t ignore The Alchemist. This year he produced three of our favorite albums of the year:

  • Larry June’s “The Great Escape”
  • Earl Sweatshirt’s “Voir Dire”
  • Mike and Wiki’s “Faith is a rock”
